Balcony | Hanging Birdbath and Waterer
Need a hanging birdbath and waterer for a balcony? Most people envision a bowl on a stand. That’s fine for those with a yard, but bird lovers living in apartments, condos, and townhouses must use other options. I used to live in an upper unit, and the terrace was my only personal outdoor space. I needed ways to provide birds with water on a terrace. I found a great option that worked beautifully. I no longer live in an apartment, but when I did at least the visitors I fed could also bathe and drink too. I enjoyed watching and caring for them.
Tips for Drawing Birds to a Hanging Birdbath
Before discussing the features, details and benefits, I want to share a few tips on drawing birds to a new birdbath. Most aren’t used to suspended sources of water, but they will use it. However, don’t expect them to show up within just a day or two of providing a hanging water source. It can take up to a week for birds to dine from new feeders let alone bathe and drink from a unique new bowl. They watch new additions until they feel at ease. Placing a suspended reservoir near a familiar feeding station will help to make them feel comfortable more quickly.
A Superior Choice for a Terrace –
When looking for a way to provide birds with water on a veranda, consider a beautiful hanging stained glass birdbath and waterer. Birds love them just as much as those with a pedestal. A hanging birdbath and waterer for a balcony offers numerous benefits and not just for feathered visitors. Butterflies, dragonflies, bees, and other winged creatures will use it too, especially when it’s warm and their usual watering areas are dry. Everything needs water. Unfortunately, not everyone keeps their water sources clean and filled as they should, and winged creatures must search for other sources of hydration.

Keep it Clean for the Health and Well-Being of Visiting Birds –
The aforementioned waterer is a fantastic alternative to a globe-style hanging birdbath and waterer. First of all, closed water globes are impossible to clean. They’re absolutely disgusting, even when rinsed often. Would you want to drink or bathe in dirty water? I sure wouldn’t! Bird deserve better.
The open watering station/bath is ideal because it’s super easy to clean and fill. However, don’t wait until it’s empty to clean and refill it. Birds prefer clean water for drinking and bathing, and they will stop using it if it isn’t kept clean and regularly filled. It’s easy enough to do. Just as you keep your drinking glasses and bathtub clean, keep their water sources fresh too.
