Banana Pudding Layered in Glasses
My husband and I were talking about foods that his parents used to make. One of the desserts was banana pudding layered in glasses. It was a treat that his dad used to make. It’s about the same as the usual kind, but the differences made it tastier than ever. I didn’t think that it would be any different than what I’ve had all of my life, but it was surprisingly better. Maybe there’s something about a parfait that’s more enjoyable than a big bowl. The consistency and the size of components can make a dish better or worse, and these are just a bit different.
Necessary Ingredients for Banana Pudding Layered in Glasses
- 2 boxes of prepared instant banana pudding
- 2 cups of crushed vanilla wafers
- 2 thinly sliced bananas
- Maraschino cherries (optional)
- Whipped topping (optional)
Procedure
Mix the sliced fruit into the banana pudding. Scoop about ¼ cup of the mixture into four glasses. Add about 1/8 cup of crushed vanilla wafers. Continue the process until creating four layers. Optionally, you can top each filled dessert glass with whipped topping and a maraschino cherry. Cover and chill for an hour before serving.
Why Chill the Finished Parfaits?
You might be wondering why you should chill the finished parfaits before digging right in. As they sit in the fridge the cookie crumbs become soft. It also gives the fruit and pudding flavors a chance to meld. It tastes better than ever when thoroughly chilled.

My Mom has always loved to make desserts like this. They are fast and easy, but they will satisfy a sweet tooth! And it’s a great way to sneak in extra dairy and fruit for the picky eaters too 🙂
Reminds me of our own similar recipe. I am fond of eating this one especially in summers.
I have not eaten banana pudding yet. I wonder if we have banana pudding mixture here in the shops. This is really an inviting dessert to make. Thanks for the recipe @kimdalessandro 😀
@thelme55 – You should see if they have it there. Banana pudding is really good, especially if you add ripe banana slices and vanilla wafer cookies.
When I first read your title I thought it was going to be a funny story of how someone glasses fell in the banana pudding and covered in banana pudding. Lol, I am glad it is a recipe instead.
@rusty2rusty – LOLOL That’s funny. I’m glad that it’s a recipe too. I see that you have a good imagination. I think of things like that too. LOL
I used to love making those for the kids each summer! Tony liked the old fashion type made from scratch but I guess I will EAY any 😀
@andriaperry – I’m not a fan of cooked pudding. When I was a kid I hated the skin that formed on top. I’d probably eat it now though. I’ll eat anything these days. 🙂 LOL
