Big Plug-In Cooler for Truck Drivers
Looking for a big plug-in cooler for truck drivers? My husband was a commercial OTR trucker for many years. Carrying an ice chest was a hassle and the ice was messy and expensive. He went on the lookout for plug-in coolers for semis and finally found one he liked. His drinks and food were always ice-cold. He was happy with his choice. That’s why I decided to share his review with my truck driving readers and those who know OTR drivers. It’s one of the fastest and easiest ways for truck drivers to save money on the road. Stop eating in truck stops and you’ll save hundreds a month. You might even live longer too.
Opt for a 52-Quart Plug-In Cooling Unit –
When seeking the best ways for truckers to keep food cold, don’t make the mistake of buying a super small plug-in unit, especially if you’re an OTR driver. You’ll need a big plug-in cooler for truck drivers since you’ll need space to store everything from bottled water to sandwiches and ready-made meals. Bringing food and drinks from home saves a tremendous amount of money.
I boxed five days of ready-made meals for my husband in BPA-free Bento boxes. I froze three of the meals and the others were kept in the fridge until he left. That way he had fresh food throughout the week. The frozen ones were kept in the bottom of the cooler. It was a good system. Other than coffee, my husband brought all of his drinks and food from home. I enjoyed assembling his weekly meals and seeing how much we could save. It was healthier for him too.

A Large Plug-In Cooler Saves Money in the Long Run
After lots of comparison shopping my husband bought a Koolatron 52-Quart Krusader Cooler. He didn’t find it at a Love’s, Pilot, Flying-J, or any other truck stop. They all wanted way too much. They really take advantage of a driver’s lack of options!
The Kooltron was a bargain in comparison to truck stop options for coolers. The features and details blew the doors off the competition. I don’t list prices because they can change. I’ll just say it’s worth checking out, and it’s up to you to decide if it’s the best deal.
It’s OTR Driver Approved in Every Way
The Koolatron is OTR driver-approved (by my hubby). It’s a great alternative to an ice chest. Be sure to read the verified comments and take a look at the ratings. You’ll see that most complaints are from those driving four-wheelers and campers. I’m not surprised either. Campers and four-wheelers don’t maintain a cool ambient temp 24-7. Of course, the unit will have to work harder in extremely hot conditions. Those people expected it to work more like a freezer than a semi truck fridge.
My husband didn’t have any complaints. He was thrilled with the unit because it paid for itself very quickly. He saved money when he stopped eating truck stop meals. Talk about taking advantage of those without parking choices! As you know, truck stop meals are a HUGE weekly expense.
Truck stop meals were killing our budget, but they were also killing my husband. His blood pressure was up and he became borderline diabetic. Truck stop meals just aren’t healthy. Yes, you can eat healthy in restaurants, but it’s not that easy when the buffet costs less than menu meals.

Easy to Access on the Passenger Seat
This big plug-in cooler for OTR drivers came with a cord that extended from the bunk area to the cab. My husband wanted to reach it while rolling. He buckled it into the passenger seat when I wasn’t along. That way he could easily reach an ice-cold drink or a sandwich whenever he wanted. It was extremely handy.
This one lasted far longer than any other plug-in cooler that my husband had in the past. He wouldn’t recommend anything to another driver that wasn’t worth buying a second time. It’s a big plug-in cooler for truck drivers that has outlasted all of his others. He was and still is very happy with his.
