Feels Like an Animal Walking on My Bed!
It feels like an animal walking on my bed, but I can’t see or hear anything. Has it happened to you too? It isn’t my cat or dog, and it isn’t vibrations from a passing car or train. It seems as if a cat gingerly walks across the mattress.

I know what that feels like for real! I have two cats, and it’s not my imagination. I’m mentally sound, and I don’t drink or abuse drugs. It can’t be a lucid dream because I haven’t yet fallen asleep.
Most of the time I feel it shortly after lying down. I can’t think of a rational explanation for the cat-like footsteps, but I know what I’m feeling. Is a ghost cat walking on my bed? I’m not sure, but I think it’s a feline spirit.
I Feel an Invisible Cat Land on My Bed
The invisible cat on my bed (or whatever the creature is) comes up from the end. I distinctly feel it land. It takes several steps toward me before stopping.
It’s scary to think that something invisible is approaching me in the dark. Who am I kidding? It feels like an animal walking on my bed, and it’s terrifying!
I sweep my leg across the mattress and quickly yank up the covers. The quilt is securely tucked under my legs and I keep it wrapped around my shoulders.
My blanket and a nightlight provide a false sense of security. I still can’t see, hear, or feel anything more, but I know what I felt. It felt exactly like a cat landing and walking on my bed, and I know I didn’t imagine it.

Fear of the Unknown
The footsteps have stopped, but I yell out for my dog as my heart pounds and my mind races to find an explanation. My dog might not come, but breaking the silence is better than waiting for something more to happen.
I want to know what it is, but at the same time I don’t want to see it or feel it again! I’m hoping my dog or my reaction will scare the mystery creature away, at least for the rest of the night. It beats screaming or fleeing in terror.

It Will Be Back
It feels like an animal walking on my bed, but where does it go? I don’t feel it walk away or jump down. It seems to just disappear back into whatever realm it came from.
I turn on the light and check all around the bed, but I never see anything. It’s gone for the time being, but I know it will be back. An invisible cat walks on my bed almost every night, and I feel it’s presence as it approaches.
It Feels Like an Animal Walking on My Bed – Almost Every Night
What walks on my bed and the beds of countless other people? I don’t have a definitive answer, but I feel it’s the spirit of a cat. I’ve shared my story elsewhere and learned that it’s happening to others at an ever-increasing rate.
Hundreds of people have commented thus far, and most had very similar experiences to what I’ve described. Be sure to read their comments below and you’ll realize you’re not alone.
Is it Really a Cat – or Something Else?
Is it the spirit of a dearly departed cat or is it an inhuman entity that takes a feline form? Maybe there is a rational explanation, but I don’t have one. What I do know is this… It’s happening to more and more people all over the world!
Do you feel a cat walking on your bed too? Be sure to read my other posts on other true paranormal occurrences.

I lost my 9 year old cat Ashley a little over two years ago, shortly after I moved into my current home with my new fiance, she didn’t handle the move well and think it messed with her eas, she spent the 6 months she was here hiding in corners and absolutely terrified until the day she attacked my fiance and ran out the door. I later adopted a cat and two of her kittens, they aren’t allowed in the bedroom though. Over the last year about a half hour after going to sleep and at about 12:30 and never when my fiance is in the room, I feel what feels like a cat jump on the bed and walk around on his side of the bed and close to me but never on me. I don’t know what to think but its frightening in the pitch black. Oddly, one of the kittens my new pet had has a deformed front paw, looks like Ashleys mama did, and adores me but wants nothing to do with my fiance even though her mother adores him. Makes me wonder about reincarnation like the deformed paw is penance for the past sin.
Hi, Katie. It is scary to feel in a dark room. It still bothers me, but it hasn’t been happening lately. Cats seem to choose one person to be their human. I have three cats, and they all come to me instead of my husband. That is interesting how the new kitten also has a deformed front paw, but maybe that’s genetic? I really don’t know much about that. Thanks for sharing your experience. 🙂
I’ve been experiencing the same feeling for a 1 1/2 years now. At first I thought it was my cat, but when I looked up there was nothing there but I could still feel it walking around. I’m fully awake still and I can feel it walking on the bed around me feet. It doesn’t go any higher, but I don’t feel any negative energy from it. It happened in different beds around my house. I can sometimes hear it jump off the bed and disappear.
I’ve asked what it wants, I’ve asked it to leave if it wasn’t sent by God, I’ve yelled at it to leave me alone, prayed, and still it comes.
Sometimes it walks around faster, but mostly it walks slowly around my feet. It’s like i can feel the mattress being pushed down around me.
When it first started happening I noticed it would come in times when I’m upset or sad about something and it’s there to comfort me, but lately it’s been showing up randomly.
It was creepy at first but I’m no longer afraid of it, it definitely feels real, I sense it there, I feel it there, but can’t see it.
Having the same thing happen to me, I’m wide awake on something is walking on me bed. The last time this happened there was a tornado a few days later. I’m taking it as a warning of events to come hopefully it won’t be too serous.
Oh my wow, I can’t believe there are so many of you experiencing the same thing. I am an addict in recovery, I believe in Karma and I believe that’s why I lost everything (including my family’s respect). However I am a faithful Christian, I love my one and only True God who never leaves me. I’ve gotten lost many times, specially after losing my brother to Leukemia six years ago. I attempted suicide more than a dozen times because life just has not been the same without him. With all that said, anything I’ve ever done, I never had bad intentions. I always asked for my God’s protection. And when I had those sleep paralysis, I would call on my dad from heaven to make them go away and he always did. I was mad at my dad when my brother died, and I guess our relationship has never been the same, but I’ve only gotten closer and closer to God. When this thing began, I would feel it at my feet, like trying to scratch my feet – now my brother used to say he was going to do that to us when he died, he said it jokingly of course. But then it began walking around me, although it never scared me and I would always begin to pray. My gramma used to tell me to say, ” if you come in Jesus name, you’re welcome to stay but if you don’t then get the f**k out of here – my soul belongs to Jesus Christ who died on the cross for me” . So I would say that and it would just stop and come back later. Then it got to the point where it wouldn’t leave. I began burning sage and praying to God to cross it over to where it belongs, because it doesn’t belong here. And it would go away and come back later. But it never scared me. It did piss me off the day it scratched my behind. I began putting a pillow behind me and wearing socks to sleep but it still walks around. I could hear it running to mess with me. Middle of the day, morning, night, the daylight doesn’t matter to it. All I can say is ‘if it’s God’s will for this thing to be here, than I have to learn something from it’ – God won’t let me fall without catching me first.
My family thinks I’m crazy or that I’m still on drugs or that I’m drunk, but as sober as can be that thing is still here. And it sits on my legs and they hurt to where I can’t stand.
God bless us all. Don’t lose faith, we’ll get through this.
It’s my third night with that thing walking around, poking me, sitting on my legs…just won’t let me sleep. Three nights without sleep, without drugs, I can’t take it anymore. I think it wants me to kill myself so it could take my soul. I’ve always been afraid of cats, grew up believing they can suck the soul out of you while you sleep. I need my sleep. I pray and pray. I tell it that it could have the other side of my bed and I’m holding on in the edge of the bed, but it still walks around me when it touches me it burns. My hands go numb. I want to sleep. God I beg you in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, please wrap me up in your blanket of love so I can sleep. Help
I just read this. I hope you haven’t taken you own life. Please don’t! Things will be better. Truly.Same thing happens to me. I wake up and tell it it’s not welcome here and I’m safe.
I had this happen once before and thought I was dreaming, but a few nights ago this happened multiple times and woke me up as the cat steps went around at my legs. I get sleep paralysis often and I considered it being related to that but this was nothing like when I get sleep paralysis. I know for a fact I was awake, I was scared shitless that something like a cat was definitely walking between my legs and it happened 3 times. The first time I got up to see if my room made had come home late after traveling home for a week to go see his mother for Christmas(he took his 2 cats with him and I was hoping to find him and the cats back home). He was of course not back, so I knew the cats were not back and was like wtfff and laid back down. As I am falling asleep the steps start to happen again!! The first time I felt it jump up onto the bed like a cat but then just stopped walking the first time when I lifted my head to check what was there.. this time they just started walking around my feet of no where as if already up on my bed. I kicked my legs around to “scare” whatever this was away. I lay my head back down and and the footsteps start up AGAIN about 10 mins after laying down, I am terrified at this point and kicked my legs and screamed “GET OUT! “ lol.. I turned on my bathroom light so I could see better prepared to get video if these steps started again, but before long I fell asleep and was not awaken the rest of the night.
This disturbed me so much I had to see if it is something scientifically explained such as my sleep paralysis when I start to fall asleep and suddenly feel like weight is pushing my chest down and I can’t move my body and suddenly become terrified, and came across this website of people with the EXACT experience I had. I was not on drugs, I am sane lol, not drinking, totally sober just sleeping in my bed. The fact so many people have experienced this while sleeping is insane to me, and everybody says it feels like a cat walking at their feet which is 100% the feeling.. do any of you also experience sleep paralysis? Trying to figure out if there may be a connection or this is something related to falling asleep and your mind/body playing tricks on you as you are right on the brink of slipping into REM.
Do any of you ever experience sleep paralysis?
Good morning Tyler, i just experienced this exact feeling last night! ive never had a sleep paralysis before but i have encountered other strange like lucid dreams but i was fully awake. i felt something walking up and down between my legs and i had my eyes closed bu was fully aware of this feeling because i was able to pet this furry animal. i then started to come to my senses and realized that i dont have a pet that should be on my bed…. i suddenly snapped out of whatever stage i was in and woke up.
I have had this experience many, many times..I’m WIDE AWAKE and it just happened a little while ago again.Something jumps up,but nothing is there. It walks from my feel up to my face and I can feel the blanket move.ive also felt something breathing next to my face.i experience the bed vibration almost nightly and can lay down during the day and same thing.whatever it is idk but I know its real.sometimes it feels like it moves into my eyes, can really explain but weird.i also become sleepy when I feel this ,like its sucking energy..anyone else?
It’s an incubus. Same thing that causes sleep paralysis and crazy dreams…
I’ve been inhabited by one for about 1.5 years.
Tyler, I wrote my story below. I’ve never had sleep paralysis, so go figure. Although I don’t practice it anymore, years back, I trained myself to lucid dream. I know that experience, and phantom cat walking is not that. In my case, I usually first experience dead cat walking when I’m transitioning from sleep to a waking state. It thoroughly wakes me up and I then decide how to handle it. Simply give in to the experience, or make it disappear? I was wondering this morning if it might have something to do with restless leg syndrome. I don’t have all the hallmarks of that, but I do get jiggly feet while awake in bed sometimes. This sounds weird, but what if by not jiggling sometimes, when totally relaxed in bed, there can be a sensation of external movement? My ghost kitty never ventures beyond the area around my feet. I’d love to find a common denominator between those of us who have experienced this. I wish Óliver Sacks was still around. Then he could write “The Man who Mistook his Sheets for a Cat!”
Over the last six months or so, I’ve had some ocasional and inexplicable bedtime experiences. It usually happens just before I am fully awake. I have the feeling that something has jumped on the foot of my bed, and then begins to walk around. The first time this happened I thought it was our dog, but she wasn’t there, and this seemed the size of a cat. Most other times, the phantom kitty is slowly kneading my ankles through the sheets. This disturbed me the first time and I swept a leg to knock it off. There was nothing there. This morning it happened again. I let it go on a while just to analyze it, and when I took a peek, the motion stopped and I detected nothing. I figured I would see if the internet had anything to say about this, and found this site. I was surprised to read it happens quite a lot, and their stories are similar to mine. Nobody has a good explanation. Some believe it is paranormal experience. Some think sleep paralysis plays a part, although I’ve never had that and I can freely move during the episodes. Someone else suggested tactile hallucinations (like phantom limb). This doesn’t seem to be a good fit because there is a lot of cat motion in my bed.
It’s all very odd. It’s like Schrödinger’s Cat. The phantom kitty is both “there” and “not there,” until I try to observe it. Then it just disappears in a quantum flash. Does this all freak me out a little? Yes, but I’m also fascinated. It feels, very, very real, even when I know it’s not.
It is NOT sleep paralysis!! I know because I’m experiencing the same thing and mine comes very often,it just did and I was wide awake, its day time and I’ve experienced for yes many times during the day.I just grabbed my phone to take pics a few mins ago,if I moved fast it would get up and move fast so I gently reached over to my nightstand and grabbed my phone, took pics but I dont see anything showing up in photo. How can so many people be experiencing this with no explanation.i truly believe that it is sum sort of spirt,it has to be.It does feel just like a cat and I’ve felt the purring of a car laying against me,however I have had no cats,I’ve always owned a dog, never a cat.it even feels like its scratching with it’s back legs the way a cat or dog would but it’s much lighter weight then any dog.my only guess is it may beable to take a different form.i hope we all find a answer somehow.its been going on for years with me and I’ve even moved a few times, always finds me..god bless everyone
I have felt something tugging the mattress at the bottom of my bed for over 3 years, then it moved onto the bed and stayed near my feet, from 2019 it started walking on the bed, always behind me,even when i turn to the other side, now it’s walking above my head and moving from side to side on the spot and shaking,i have got angry and kicked out and told it to f off and the mattress was pulled down from every side, the footsteps are getting more heavier and i first thought it was my back,as i had an old injury, but when i felt a slight tug on my hood, there is no way that could be my back,i also feel taps all over my body,it even came to mind that it was a lizard,it also pelts something at me,that starts biting me,like insects and i am bitten until i have to wake up,i am not asleep, cause i’m listening to the radio and look at the clock,it sometimes disturbs my sleep and i have lost a lot of sleep because of this activity,i also thought it wasa cat,but it walks on two legs, sometimes the footsteps are very heavy and fast and other times i’ts slow and now it walks not only at the back,it walks at the front as well,i really don’t need this in my life,i have tried smudging, crystals, prays, asking what it wants and to find it’s own peace, spiritual healer, but it still stays,it comes on certain days/nights
I made a mistake in my first post,i am awake and these insects that are hitting me with great force and bitting me,until i have to get out of my bed
I have had this too for about year and a half,it was even with me when I was on a cruise on holiday ! I have been petrified,I was shaking with fear and didn’t want to turn the light out,I was awake ,I was embarrassed ,my husband must have thought I was mad.One day I went to bed before my husband and there it was again ,jumping up and walking up the bed ,I can feel the mattress depressing.I sat up and angrily told it to go home, that it didn’t belong with me,I didn’t want it here, just go home ,I don’t want you here. From then on it came less and less each time I told it to go away and go home until it doesn’t seem to come anymore.I’m not at all religious or believe in ghosts ,I tried to embrace it but was very frightened at the time.I simply can’t explain it.
They are definitely related. Unfortunately, I do not believe it is a cat at all, but an invisible demon of some sort that steals energy from our bodies.
It is also the cause of sleep paralysis and nightmares.
I consider it more like a little invisible goblin.
,
Tyler, I have sleep paralysis all the time, and I also have this sensation of a cat walking around me all the time. In fact the first time it happened – years ago – I felt it walk from around my shoulder area down to the bottom of my bed, felt it jump off and HEARD it THUMP on the floor!! I’ve had it happen a lot since then but here’s where it gets really bizarre. You can think me crazy if you want to, but this just happened about 2 weeks ago. One night I half woke up into sleep paralysis and there was a cat STANDING THERE right next to me where the footsteps usually happen. It was white with black paws and a black snout and she talked to me. She told me I had a guardian angel who had always been with me. There was a little more to it, but that’s what happened. And I’ve never had any kind of full-on hallucination in sleep paralysis before, this was a first in many, many ways. So that’s my story – as scary as it is, this may not necessarily be a bad thing. Hope this helps!
For the past 4 months have felt something brush against my face when I am trying to fall asleep. I dismissed it as static electricity… especially because I did NOT want to think of it being spiders.
For the past month, things have gotten stranger. I have felt something walking on my mattress. Seems to be moving the blankets and I can feel the pressure on the mattress shift with each “step”
Last night, I could feel a warm temperature as this entity would touch my shoulder, arm, face and fingers. I even tried to “pet” this warm invisible figure.
Super f*&^ed up.
Last night I felt something jump on the corner of my bed which actually woke me up. I actually heard it prance around on my bed and it came around the top of my head and then put its nose or face (don’t know) into my hair and take a sniff (yes I heard it sniff). I freaked out at that point and there was nothing there. Prior to this experience several months ago, I have seen the corner of my bed sink in as if someone was sitting there. I have several small mirrors on a wall facing my closet doors which are full mirrors. Is it a chance this is creating a portal? I don’t know what to think. What I do know is I’m losing sleep.
I have been experiencing a cat jumping up on my bed over the past year. I have felt it walking on the bed and poke me on my back and leg with it’s paw (not claws). I can go many months without experiencing it, then have several back to back experiences. Prior to this past year, I had experienced the feeling of something around my legs or feet. I have had guests in the house experience this “purring” up against their legs as well. I had never told my boyfriend about Ghost Kitty, as I call it, but the other morning, while still in bed awake, he suddenly started kicking his feet and asking me what I was doing and asked if my cat was in the room. I hadn’t moved and my cat was not in the room. My boyfriend said he felt a cat jump up on the bed and walk around his feet and legs several times. It was odd because I was inches away and felt nothing! Certainly spooked him!! I have never felt a bad feeling from the entity though- It’s like it’s just a cat wanting touch. This morning as I woke up, I swear I saw a huge cat sitting, all 4 legs tucked under, staring at me, inches from my face. I have had 2 previous cats that had died while living here, but I’m not sure this is a cat I am familiar with. Years ago I had talked to a man who had grown up in this house. At the time of our meeting I had a ghost of a woman in my house- his grandmother, but he didn’t know of my cat experiences. He did tell me as a boy, in his bedroom, he and his brother used to feel things playing with their feet. I thought maybe he was telling tales to spook me, but now I have to wonder if Ghost Kitty has been here a very long time! What strikes me the most is the clear physical sensations the Ghost Kitty makes. I have had many paranormal experiences with spirits and shades but never felt something so physical.
I have been experiencing a cat walking on my bed; at dark and early a.m. I know what it feels like as I am a previous cat owner, but haven’t had a cat in about 8 years or so. I am not crazy, I am a business owner and I am not dreaming. It is frustrated because everyone is writing about it, but no one can really do a thing about it. It doesn’t scare me and I have tried to hit it, thinking that it might feel like something, but that isn’t the case. I have tried to peek in the a.m. but can’t see it ever. Seems like I have felt it whiskers.
Sure would be nice if the cat would talk, then I would know what it wants… lol.. not going to happen!!!
I had this happen once before and thought I was dreaming, but a few nights ago this happened multiple times and woke me up as the cat steps went around at my legs. The bed shaking and feeling of a crawling cat could be simple seizures I started taking liquid melotonin and the sensation has all most stopped I think if I keep taking the liquid melotonin it will completely go away So far I don’t fell the cat crawling anymore and I don’t really feel the bed shaking really.
Ok I came here to get answers but this page is only full of questions !!!! Does anybody have the actual answer or a link to what this actually is????????
My email is : rebeccalee8688@yahoo.com
I read that it is a simple seizure
I came here as well to get answers…
I am actually feeling something jump up on my bed and is walking as I am typing this. It is getting to be more and more frequent. It’s every night now. I lost my cat of 13 years over a year ago. But this just started 4 months ago. If I only knew it was her I would be more at ease about this. It quite scary especially after you turn the light off and get comfortable.
I know it’s not seizures.. Never had one in my life. I would truly like to get some answers.
I am absolutely floored that I’m not the only one who experienced this. I was so afraid to mention this to anyone because I sound insane but I have the same thing happen to me. When I lay down at night, I feel this cat jump from the bottom of my bed and slowly walk towards my face. I can feel the pressure of this cat walking around. Sometimes it will start at my head and then disappear. When this cat jumps off my bed, I can hear footsteps back and forth in my bedroom. I believe it attaches to our spirit because no matter what bed I’m in, I feel it. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing. I’m relieved Im not crazy.
I found this post just now because I finally decided to Google “why does it feel like there is an animal walking on my bed”. I’m laying in bed wide awake and I just felt the most amazing presence of a cat jump on my bed, walk up to my body and nestle it’s paws up against my back. I’ve been feeling this happen for over a year now, but this was the most intense and lasted the longest. I think that’s because I allowed it and actually invited it with my energy, rather than scare it away with my fear.
WHAT IS THIS?! I have no explanation other than ghost cat. Crazy wild. Glad to know I’m not the only one this happens to. I’m about to give it a “here kitty kitty” and see if it comes back.
I think and hope it is my pass cats Vanilla and Milo I always feel like they are walking on the bed I always look to see if one of my cats I have now are on the bed but no so I hope that is what it is!!!!
I moved to a house in Conyers GA in September 2015. Several nights a week I would feel something crawling on my bed from the foot of my bed up. It was like a light animal. I experienced it for the entire year we lived in that house. But I swear it was something more living in that house besides my family. It was a newer house built in 2000 or late 90’s. My grandson was 3 at the time. He always saw “something”. When we started moving out that house a year later to move to Virginia my grandson died in a freak car accident 7 days later. I have always felt it had something to do with whatever crawled on my bed and what ever spirit was apart of that house. Since we completely moved out after his death i have not felt that crawling on my bed. But I always wonder what that was.
I’m so sorry about the loss of your grandson, Pam.
I don’t know what it is either, but it’s something that seems to be increasing. I can’t believe how many others have experienced the feeling of an animal (or something) walking on the bed.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I have experienced this ever since I was a little girl I’m 20 now,, it felt like a cat jumped on to the end of my bed and walked up towards me and layed down for a bit then back down and jumped off, it scared me my heart would race and I couldn’t move.. a couple years went by and I forgot about it until the other night it happened but this time it walked to my face and my face tickled as if there were whiskers touching me.. I brushed my face and it moved back down and jumped off. This really disturbed me, I wish I knew what it was.. my only guess would be since it’s always happening when I wake up. That the body doesn’t know im awake and it’s going back to normal from being in sleep paralysis. But I don’t know it scares me but I don’t feel threatened it’s never hurt me but it definitely feels other worldly.
I understand how you feel, Ashley. It is scary!
I guess what scares me the most is feeling something that I can’t see.
It happened again recently, but it didn’t walk toward me this time. I felt the bed shake a little when it landed on the end. I was hoping it was my cat, but nothing was there.
I read that it’s a simple seizure but how can thousands of people be having seizures it’s suppose to make the bed shake as well
Yes! I posted in my comment I am curious if related to sleep paralysis, I get sleep paralysis often..do you?
I have also been experiencing this but I have had some negative affects feeling the object up around my face an what I thought was breathing it in causing me to have night terrors for days it seems as if it is getting stronger at first it was weak but after a few weeks I can defiantly feel it also playing with my feet has woken me outta a deep sleep several times .. My name is Alec an I am 35 years old an live in Mission bc Canada .. I am wonder where every one else is that is experiencing this is ..
Hi, Alec. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I’ve felt something other than a cat too. One night I awoke to feel a hand on my leg. It felt like a child’s hand, and it wasn’t cold like you would expect. I just felt the pressure but couldn’t see anyone. It went away when I opened my eyes.
Over the years I’ve had many strange experiences. I’m in the US in Indiana, but I’ve experienced the paranormal away from home too. It finds me sometimes, and when it does I’m always taken by surprise.
I woke up to feeling something jump on my bed. First in front of me, by my chest and shoulder area, as i was laying on my side. When I opened my eyes it jumped behind me. I rolled over to see and nothing was there. My door was closed and my cat was not in my room. I definitely could feel it walking around me. I assumed it was a cat. But I did have a shitzu who was very dear to me pass away this spring. Maybe it was him?
I’m so sorry for your loss. Maybe it was him. There are things we can’t explain, but life never truly ends.
I have felt the same things as all of you. At night, a small animal jumps up on my bed and walks around. I am not dreaming this. This has been going on for about a year and a half. At times I have felt it tug or pull at my feet. I have also felt it scampering across my bed back and forth as if it were excited. I have heard it land on the floor after it jumps off my bed .
I have been experiencing the sensation of a cat or a small animal jumping on my bed EVERY NIGHT for over about a year and a half. It jumps up on the bed after I feel the edge of the mattress pull down a bit as if it were standing with its paws on the mattress ready to hoist itself up. It does and then it walks around usually around my feet and then it walks toward my head. I don’t know what it does then but I have heard it and felt it jump down off the bed with a light puumff on the floor. It has even scampered back and forth across my bed and sometimes I think I have felt it walk through me! I am certain that this is not a dream. I have even felt it tugging on my feet! When it can’t get up on my bed by jumping up on my right side because during the warm summer nights I place a large fan on the floor where it would normally jump up, it jumps up from the foot of my bed! Then I feel it walking around at my feet. It begins to walk toward my head at that point although it has never harmed me. This all true.
I believe you and everyone else here. We can’t all be imagining the feeling of an animal jumping up and walking around on our bed. I still awaken to the feeling of an animal landing, but it stays away when my cats are there. I feel safer when my cats sleep with me, and I’m sure my cats sense whatever it is too. They watch my doorway and the floor for something that I can’t see. Thanks for commenting.
I experienced the same thing for many years almost nightly. It used to scare me a lot and then I got used it (sorta)….but there times I’d be woken up and feel the steps gingerly on my bed and it would freak me out. One night I screamed at it and told it to leave me alone and that it was not invited. It left and *never* has come back. I’ve waited and waited but nothing. It was never frightful or even the slightest aggressive. It was my fear that overtook it. For all I know it could have been a guardian angel. Sometimes I wish I could have it come back and try to communicate with it.
I’ve sort of become used to it too. I’m afraid to try and communicate with it. I wouldn’t want it to encourage it. 🙂
Last night was the fourth time in a few weeks. Sensation of an animal walking at the foot of my bed. It has never scared me but last night I waved my leg sideways to see if I would feel anything. Nothing. I laid there trying to figure out what it might be. No pets sleep with me although I have a dog and three cats. They are not allowed in my bedroom. I did have a cat that passed away less than 2 months ago. She was not a sociable cat. Glad to hear other people have had this experience. I am 64 years old. I am aware of the paranormal and had a bad experience in the early 80″s. That event scared me. So if just feeling something lightly walking on my bed is all that will happen then I am ok with it. I do not show fear but it makes me question why. Always keep god close!
I’ve done the same as you, Shirley. I’ve swiped my leg across the end of the bed and never feel anything. I only feel it land and walk.
I read that it’s a simple seizure but how can thousands of people be having seizures it’s suppose to make the bed shake as well
Hi everyone. I am so glad and relieved to read these comments.
Here’s my story.
My friend and I often share a bed. Over the fall of 2019 we both felt little steps on the bed. We joked about it but didn’t really know what it was. I would pray out loud “If you’re not of love, peace and light, get out!” I’ve asked God to let me know if this was bad. I felt like it was kind.
I’ve always been freaked out by the thought of unseen entities however I have wanted to get over that fear for years.
One night I felt it get up from the foot of the bed then something touched my left foot. I sat up so fast while screaming and kicking my feet! I screamed that if it wasn’t from love, peace and God to get out!! I actually heard the sound of a cat landing on the floor. That stopped me in my tracks. I was taken back by that. I began googling this and found so many wonderful threads of a similar nature. Not one comment regarding the entity being negative or dark.
That really peaked my interest!
At the time my 10 yr old kitty Josie was very sick. Over the next few months I looked forward to getting in to bed and seeing what was next! I thought maybe it was Josies real sister that had passed away 3 years ago. Both of these kitties became sick over the summer / fall and both passed the weekend after Christmas. 3 years apart.
I was wondering if this was my first kitty coming to visit while Josie was gown down hill.
I felt this every night. I felt comforted by this being that I believe is a kitty. One night, I felt very tiny steps, then gentle kneading and then something soft and furry pass by.
On other nights I’ve felt my ghost kitty jump up on the bed and slowly make her way up the bed towards my shoulders. I was laying on my side. Once it laid behind me and I literally HEARD OUT LOUD purring!!!!!!!!!!! At that point I had to get up and see if it was my living kitty named Christian. It wasn’t. I didn’t see anything.
Two nights ago I was facing the right my blankets up over my shoulders and covering the left side of my face. Here comes ghost kitty! I felt excited and my heart was racing. The kitty was very close to my body. I could feel every tiny step and every bit of a cat! My eyes were bugging out of my head and I wanted to scream! I was excited, scared, surprised, dismayed and freaked out! All the while I laid perfectly still and kept talking to God. I kept saying “God, if this is ok, then ok. If this isn’t a kind, loving creature from you, let me know!” I still had a feeling of peace.
Ready for this? Then the kitty nuzzled on my back. It felt so warm and lovely. Then it jumped up on my left arm! 😯
I felt light, warm pressure. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack! Lol Meanwhile I felt comforted. Sooo weird
I look forward to feeling this. I sometimes hang out in my bed to see if it will come and say hi!
I’m not sure if this is me craving a kitty’s love because I just put Josie down or if it was an old pet of mine.
I’ve talked to it asking who it is, do I know you etc. No answers.
Last night a new kitty jumped on my bed. It weighed much more than the other. It was heavy footed. I sat right up looking around. I saw nothing.
I am eager to see where this goes. I welcome the love of a kitty. However, is this a kitty? Is it dangerous?
I know this is a long story. There are so many details and events! 😁
Thank you for reading my story.
I’ll keep u posted!
This is a real thing. I’m not really sure of how this happens to others, but with me, it’s happened 3 times in the span of maybe 5 years. I only feel when it starts walking on top of the comforter. It’s like a cat walking from the foot of the bed towards my head. It follows the person. Same experience happened when I was in my sleeper half way across the US in my truck. It’s the only thing I have encountered in my life that I am unable to explain. Maybe dimetional travel, aliens, who knows.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, Michael. It is a mystery. I wonder if it’s the spirit of a cat that once belonged to someone. Life is forever, even for animals. On the other hand, maybe it is an inter-dimensional being. Some things can’t be explained away.
I also have been feeling like a cat is walking on my bed , but it always brushes against me while 🚶. I cant even sleep because it’s constant. Someone help me please
Hi, Edwina. Sorry it took so long for me to reply. I’m sorry you’re not sleeping because of it. Please take comfort in knowing that 99% of the people experiencing this haven’t felt anything negative or harmful. I know it’s unnerving, but I believe it’s harmless. I advise ignoring it and thinking of it as you would a kind living kitty.
I felt an animal brush up against my leg at the veterinarian’s office yesterday, but nothing was there. I suppose some people are just more sensitive than others.
I hope your sleep improves. 🙂
We have a cat; she lets her presence known when it’s bedtime! LOL! Several times, I have been awakened to what I surely thought was her walking towards me, but when I sit up? Nothing.
I have gotten out of bed, and she is nowhere near the bedroom. Can’t believe I googled this and found people that have experienced the same thing!
Hi, Magoo. Sorry I’m so slow to respond. Countless people are experiencing the same thing. 🙂 The good thing is it’s harmless.
Mine is always a cat. I can feel it walking on the bed and I can feel/hear it when it jumps off the bed. A few times I have heard it purr. What causes this?
I have felt a cat on my bed for the past 2 weeks it was sleeping against my leg or at my feet. I have been feeling it jump on the bed for a while but now I know it is on bed. It is kneading at my side or at my feet. I would like to know what is going on.
I just had this experience last night. I was sleeping when I woke up around 4 and that’s when I felt like one of my cats was walking on my bed to come to me. I thought maybe my family put them in my room as my door was closed. I looked back and nope! No one was there. It happened again and I looked back and again no one was there. That’s when I laid in bed for a few minutes thinking it’s in my head but I couldn’t deny that it actually happened I went outside and my cat was sleeping on the sofa and the other one wasn’t home so it couldn’t be them. I’m googling this experience and I’m so surprised to see many people had the same experience as me. I don’t know what it means or what it is.
Hi SAR. We’re all trying to figure out what it is. At least it seems harmless. 🙂
The cat thing just happened to me on Sunday night for the first time and it freaked me the heck out. I got up on Monday and did a Google search and found that I wasn’t the only one who has had this happen. I never did feel what ever it was jump on or off the bed, it was just there walking and then gone. I could feel the blankets being pulled as it walked towards my head. Then it started walking back down towards my feet and I thought it was going to walk over my legs but it just stopped and was gone. Haven’t had anything happen since. I would love for someone to come up with a good explanation as I’m sure all of you would.
Unfortunately there isn’t a good way to prove what it is. I suppose it would take a study on each individual to try and determine if it’s caused by a particular medication, condition, or something else. Some believe it’s paranormal. 🙂
I read that it is a simple seizure
I get that almost every night! It scares me cause I know it’s not my cat she’s in front of me on her bed! I know this sounds stupid but I’m 20years old and scared of the dark cause ever since I was young I seen things! But it’s been gone for a while but I still feel precence and it scares me! I know it could be my mom or my sister but the presence feels different! I sometimes run when the lights are out to turn on a different light to go to a different room! And when I go to bed I put the covers over my head right away!
But anyways I have this problem too of where it feels like an animal on my bed or what ever it is! I don’t see anything! What is it and why is it happening?
Hi, Miranda. As you can see from the comments you’re definitely not alone. I’m much older than you and I still sleep with a nightlight. I want to see what’s in my room if need be – and if I can see it.
What is it? No one seems to know for sure. It could be the spirit of a deceased cat and not necessarily yours or one of a former tenant. They seem to want love and attention.
In 99% of instances it’s nothing to worry about. I’ve had hundreds of comments here and on one other article on the topic, and only a few mentioned anything negative.
Thanks kim Dalessandro! You made me feel better! And thanks again! Hope you have a good day and a night light is what i need then I won’t so be afraid
I have the same problems as you. Typically I’m okay with the dark but sometimes I have those days where I can’t be in the dark because I think and I imagine so many things it terrifies me. Also that cat walking experience happed to me too. I thought it was my cats but it wasn’t. I was terrified so I went to sleep in my sisters room instead. I’m leaning towards some kind of spirit but I can’t be sure. I know for sure it wasn’t a part of my imagination though.
Omgee.. So thankful for your post & to find it. This literally happened to me last night. This would be the 2nd time it has happened to me. Last night and about a year and a half ago. So this time I decided to look it up. I have never had a cat, so I don’t connect to any reason related to that.. When sharing the story to my friend (one who would think I was crazy lol.. I naturally said a little dog & she did ask, well why do you think dog & I said well I don’t know it reminded me of a fast little dog. Plus the first time it happened I kinda put it together with seeing my Nonnie in a dream & she always had little dogs that followed her around.
Well I must say.. just seeing this thread alone makes me feel better.
Hi, Cathleen. I’m so glad this helped you! You’re certainly not alone. 😀
I look this subject up cause I have been dealing with this for over a month now… of course nothing has touched me … but very similar situation feels like a cat climbing on the bed and walking right behind me … have looked and try to catch this thing… yet nothing is there … it started around my feet and legs … and now it’s right behind my back… ??? Humm
I am Kenneth’s girlfriend. I haven’t experienced what he has but we have been hearing strange noises as if someone is walking around upstairs. I’ve heard running down the stairs, thought it was our cat but it wasn’t.
We aren’t sure what to make of it all. We tried to explain it all away but just can’t come up with a reasonable explanation!
Kim,
I think that this encounter can be explained only thru paranormal, if your 100% sure noone else is in the house and no human nor animal is the cause then you may need to cleanse your home, I know it sounds like i’ve lost my marbles, but I can assure you I have all my faculties and I know I’m not a crazy person so I can tell you this, cleansing your house will do a world of good, make sure the front and the back windows on each floor are open or doors if they are on the floor, no matter what the temperature is, and go through with a sage stick and bless your house you can do it yourself you can get a priest to do it I recommend you do it yourself
Thanks for your reply, Matt!! Kenny and I got home from a trip yesterday. Later, we went to bed & he said it felt like something jumped up on his side of the bed—almost as if it was excited he was there!!
We certainly don’t think you’re crazy, lol! Will have to take you up on your advice as the activity is increasing. I can’t shake the feeling there’s more to this than it’s letting on at this point!
My boyfriend is at ease & feels it’s not here to do any harm. I, however, am very uncomfortable with it!!
I know what it is, its not you’re crazy, its not a dead cat or person or anything, it was left with you for a reason just don’t worry about it and focus on God’s love around you by realizing and concentrating on the love of god that exists in all creation, you should feel his love as a physical effect when you do this correctly, so you should never fear or worry that’s very important because fearing and worrying about this invisible animal only will make it angry and it might behave as if you should be afraid of it. Just enjoy the company its all one can do for now. When you see a spirit or an invisible animal like it remember to focus on God’s love around you and his love will command the invisible animal to protect you.
Heres the deal, since I was a kid Ive felt this cat walking on my bed, it doesnt matter if its day or night, weather Im sleeping, waking up, wide awake.
My whole life Ive felt this cat walking around me, it walks all cautious watching each step it takes. Ive never been afraid of it, but I can be sitting here on my couch, yup its been here, just a few minutes ago in fact. I was really hoping for some sort of explaination but instead Ive read these stories and took a trip down all my events that have happened to me. Im actually typing this right now and its behind me. Pacing behind me.
Man I wish I had answers.
Thanks for taking time out and reading my story. Truth be told, I think I was visited by ghosts as a kid and still to this day. But thats a whole other article.
Same thing here. Something walking on the covers. Then under them, that feels like a mouse as soon as I lay down; and pull up the covers. Happens every nite for 2 months now. I sleep on my side nude. One time my butt was touched with one finger firmly. Another two fingers on each temple; then pulled firmly brushing towords my feet. My wrist has beened pulled. My feet also touched. Covers pulled down at my feet. Touched on shouder, and butt careesed. Over my bed, black cloud with several hands reaching out towords me. Sometimes smokey clouds; but, more transparet that don’t reach out. I downloaded an app called GHOST DETECTOR that goes to 98 on my bed. I get readings of 45 everywhere else in the house. One time in the daytime, sitting up with feet coverd, I saw mouse shape moving twords my feet. I’d move them over some, it would go to them again. I move them when it got closer and it turns and heads towards my foot again.
Yeah, this is nothing like my sitch in anyway shape, or form. Nothing touches or “caresses my butt” ( Id have to bless my house and strike the wierd spirits back to where they came, and never allow them to enter my dwelling again. Your situation is more poltergeist than anything. If you cant get them away, Id seek someone who could. ( we all possess the power to rid spirits away) umm yeah, not the same, at all.
Thanks Matt,
The Priest gave me prayers; doctor, antipsycotic. Niether worked. I will try the sage.
I read that it is a simple seizure but try and suprise it an kick it off the bed you might feel contact with it
I’ve felt the same thing; like a cat walking around me. I don’t own a cat. It happens in the morning when I am between sleep and awake. I personally hope that it is my mother visiting me/tucking me in.
Hi, VT. Maybe it is your mother. I believe our loved ones still come around to check on us, and some of us are more sensitive and aware of their actions than others.
I would like to think it is my Mother but it always jumps off the bed.
Hey Kim, I noticed your other blog site was no longer available and this site came up. I’ve had a problem with an invisible cat on my bed for at least a year or so. It comes on my bed by my feet and walks toward my head. ive only had one cat in my life and that was when I was a child. I don’t have any pets currently. I’ve also noticed that the feeling is always behind me. Like if I’m laying on my side, the cat always walks along the side I’m not facing. When I turn to look, nothing is there. It never does any harm to me but it’s just really annoying when I’m trying to sleep. I look forward to reading everyone’s comments on here. Thank you!
Hi, Brian. I recently moved everything from that blog to this one. The other article is still out there, but this one comes up higher on the search engines now. I know what you mean about ‘the cat’ being annoying. I feel it mostly by my lower legs and feet, but nothing is there for me either. The comments are very interesting. Thanks for sharing your experiences. 😀
Omg i feel the same thing in my new apartment. Sometimes it feels like its stepping on my hair. Idk whats going on but its so weird feeling
I have been experiencing the same things as everyone else. For about a year and a half I have felt a small animal jump on my bed and walk around. I am not dreaming this! It jumps up either on my right side or at the foot of my bed .
