What it Means | Guy Gives an Expensive Gift

Wondering what it means when a guy gives an expensive gift? Whether you’re 16 or 60 relationships can be confusing. Does a guy like you more if he buys you expensive things? Not necessarily. Consider the following reasons why a guy would splurge on presents for Christmas, your birthday, or just because. If you can’t buy him something equal in value don’t sweat it. The thought counts more than the value anyway, but what is he thinking? That’s the big question!

Does He Really Love You?

What it Means When a Guy Gives an Expensive Gift

When people search for clues on what certain actions and inactions mean, the relationship isn’t a close one. Close loving relationships leave no questions looming in the shadows. Maybe he’s doing lots of things that make you question his intentions. Do his actions reflect his words and visa versa.? When you have to guess what he’s thinking and he keeps you confused, it’s not looking good.

A person can easily utter the words ‘I Love You’, but does he really love you or does he love what you do for him? Does an expensive gift mean a guy loves me or not? When you’re wondering what it means when a guy gives an expensive gift don’t make assumptions. How much he spends isn’t an accurate way to measure love, but it can be telling under certain circumstances.

Prince Charming or Something Much Darker…

First of all, if the relationship leaves you with more questions than answers proceed with extreme caution, especially if he starts out treating you like a queen and changes over time. That’s not to say he isn’t just a generous guy without hidden motives. Maybe money isn’t an issue and he just wanted to give you a really nice gift, but if his personality ever changes from Prince Charming to Ebeneezer Scrooge, he may have been love bombing you. It sounds nice, but it isn’t.

What’s Wrong with This Guy? His Behavior is Odd –

Love bombing is something some narcissists do to snare their target’s heart. Notice I said some narcissists. Narcs have many of the same behavioral traits, but it’s a spectrum disorder. They aren’t all exactly the same. Some are painfully cheap and won’t splurge on expensive gifts for others, but many of their behaviors are eerily familiar.

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is found in a small percentage of the population, but these people are fake. Contrary to popular belief, narcissists aren’t all about gazing into mirrors either, but they are self-absorbed people. Their gifts come with strings. They don’t do anything for others if it won’t somehow benefit them in the long run.

What it Means When a Guy Gives an Expensive Gift and Something Seems Off –

How can you tell if a guy is a narcissist or if his gifts are sincere? Some start out like a knight in shining armor with gifts and words of love, but it’s part of the rouse. They make you feel like no one else ever has, but as time goes by they become unlike anyone you’ve EVER even known – and not in a good way. If you have to ask what it means when a guy gives you an expensive gift, he may be a narcissist. Others give gifts because they want something from you. Be very wary until you know for certain.

When a guy’s behavior is odd but you can’t figure out why, he may have some form of NPD. It’s a personality disorder that’s abusive to others. You don’t want to get in any deeper if he’s a narc. Cut your loses, run, and don’t allow him to contact you EVER again. Narcissists go from hot to cold and fly into rages at the drop of a hat. A narcissist’s words and actions take their target on an emotional roller coaster. It’s their way or the highway, and no amount of love will change them. They aren’t capable of true empathy and love. It may seem as if they are, but they mimic healthy people to fit in and obtain what they want.

Can He Afford to Buy Expensive Gifts?

Just because someone gives you a nice present doesn’t mean they’re a narcissist. It doesn’t mean they have ill intentions either. Widespread mistrust on your part could mean that you are the one with the problem. The guy in your life might simply be kind and generous, and he may really like, love, or admire you. Some people are just naturally generous. How can you tell if a guy really loves you? If he really does care you won’t have to ask or search for clues. You’ll know without a doubt.

The cost of gifts isn’t a real indicator of love or admiration anyway. No one is perfect, but if he really cares and has the capability to love, he won’t treat you like dirt beneath his feet when he has a bad day. He won’t make you question your worth or say things that keep you guessing and questioning the relationship. Don’t try to convince yourself that it’s normal behavior. It may be for some, but it doesn’t make it okay.

What it Means When a Guy Gives an Expensive Gift and You’re Not Close –

The meaning behind gifts matter far more than the cost. You need to look at the big picture to figure out what’s really going on. After all, a guy doesn’t have to spend a dime to give you meaningful gifts. Time spent in a romantic setting is priceless! A $2 gift is worth more than a $200 gift when it doesn’t come with strings attached.

How does he treat you and how long have you known him? If you’re still wondering what it means when a guy gives an expensive gift, you probably haven’t known him long enough and/or you’re not in a close relationship. Look beyond the wrapping paper, fancy bow and price tag to see the big picture.
