Ways to Pull More Cool Air through Upstairs Vents
Need to pull more cool air through upstairs vents? When upper bedrooms are too hot you can make central air more effective. The rooms will be more cooler and far more comfortable, especially in the summer when upper rooms are too warm –
My husband and I live in a tri-level home, and two of the three upstairs bedrooms aren’t very cool. I have to set the temperature much lower than I’d like to make it cool enough to sleep at night. Thankfully I found ways to pull more cool air through upstairs vents without upgrading the central air. We sleep more comfortably and spend more time upstairs. A person shouldn’t have to sleep on the couch when they rooms with beds.
Reasons Why Home Temperatures Vary –
The obvious reason why temperatures can vary from one level to the next is the simple fact that heat rises, but it’s likely more than that. We had our central air serviced this summer, and the technician was shocked by how small the unit is. My husband had the house built before we were married, and the construction company added the smallest possible unit. That wasn’t surprising. It’s an Energy Star home, but even still, the unit is barely large enough to cool the square-footage here. We’re not ready to replace it with a new system, and we had to find ways to pull more cool air through upstairs vents.
Ordinary Box Fans Aren’t Enough –
In an attempt to make it comfortable enough to sleep in our beds, I strategically positioned box fans in front of the bedroom vents. They helped a little, but not enough to make a real difference. I knew a better solution had to exist, and after a little research I found an affordable option. It didn’t make sense to continue attempting to sleep in rooms that were way too warm. Also, why have an upstairs if you can’t use it in the summer? I was thoroughly disgusted with the comfort level of the home, but I was also determined.
You Can Pull More Cool Air through Upstairs Vents
Ways to Pull More Cool Air through Upstairs Vents –
The fans above offer effective ways to pull more cool air through upstairs vents. As you can see, they have several to choose from. The one that I chose is pictured on the left. Their brand is currently the highest rated. According to the reviews, their fans are much quieter than others. I haven’t tried any other type to make an honest comparison, but I’m very happy with the outcome. They are affordable ways to pull more cool air through upstairs vents, and I’m sure that they’ll work equally as well when we need more warmth in the winter. They beat buying a larger central air unit.
They Increase Register Air Flow –
The vent boosters aren’t air conditioners or heaters. They’re high-powered fans with various adjustments that will pull more cool (or warm) air through upstairs vents. They’re simply high-powered fans that improve air flow. As the name suggests, they give the blower a boost. They won’t make the air warmer or colder. They pull more into the room.
An Adapter Plate Creates a Perfect Fit –
Be sure to measure carefully before ordering, and if you can’t find the right size, search for an adapter plate that will allow it to fit as it should. I didn’t need adapter plates since my vent openings are standard size, but at least they were available if the vent boosters didn’t fit. I’m thrilled that they solved our problem.
