Ways to Use a Fairy Garden Door without a Tree
Need ways to use a fairy garden door without a tree? An ancient oak with a hollow opening would be ideal, but most don’t have that option. If you don’t even have a stump to decorate you can still use a decorative door. All it takes are a few creative alternatives and the desire to create a magical display. It’s a grownup version of a dollhouse, but it’s for mystical little beings.
Don’t have a yard? It doesn’t matter since they can be used indoors as well. They aren’t nailed or glued in place. The decorating options are endless with unique fairy garden decor. You’ll enjoy creating and expanding the space as you find new accessories.
Do You Have a Bird Bath?
I’ve always wanted a big tree with an opening for a fairy door, but I don’t have one. I probably never will since trees take decades to grow and mature. My yard has several trees, but the only one that’s large enough wouldn’t work. If I placed anything on the ground in that location it would likely get hit with the mower or the grass trimmer. My dog would also likely pee on it! If I wanted to use a fairy door, I had to find other ways. I decided it looked best next to my concrete tree stump bird bath. What do you think? I plan on expanding it in the spring with other unique and beautiful fairy garden furnishings.
Ways to Use a Fairy Garden Door without a Tree –
Have you heard of fairy mounds? They’re also known as ‘raths or earthen mounds‘. They’are also called hill forts, ring forts, and round dwellings. The supernatural inhabitants are long gone, but they’re said to be haunted. That’s scary stuff! You can make a fairy mound with a little door. When you don’t have a tree for a fairy door it’s the next best thing. The good news is, yours won’t come with ghosts, but it may draw passing fairies and elves.
Create a Magical Fairy Mound –
Mound up well-worked soil to the appropriate height. If desired, dig out an opening. Push the little door into the soil. Plant grass seed in the soil, and keep it moist until it sprouts. You’ll have to trim it with a pair of sheers, but it will look extremely cute. Add accessories including fairy garden mushrooms, furniture, and other eye-catching things. I’d love to place a mini fairy garden birdbath next to the real thing.
